National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) 2022 – Recap

I have been waiting for the National Order of the Arrow Conference for 6 years now.  Our contingent went to the University of Tennessee from Monday, July 25th till Saturday, July 30th

Yes, 6 years!  My mom and brother went in 2018 and came back with such great adventures about meeting scouts from all over the world, like Germany and Puerto Rico, the trainings they took and games they played and of course, we cannot forget the patch trading.  I know people think I am crazy because I was only afforded the opportunity in 2020 since I only was inducted in 2019 but when I heard about all the fun my mom and brother had I just had to get into the OA and experience it for myself. Nonetheless, when 2020 was cancelled I was very upset. I had invested in a large quantity of patches and made many plans to meet up with other arrowmen that I had met through Conclave and online.  But I just had to wait another 2 years to be able to do it.  I was asked to be the Youth Contingent leader and I tried my best to attract arrowmen from our Lodge to go.  Our Lodge Contingent consisted of 4 adults, 2 youth adults and 6 youth.

We arrived early Monday morning, unpacked and settled in.  A few of us roamed the university and began our adventure.  We traded patches, talked with arrowmen from Puerto Rico and other lodges from all over the country.  We took workshops and trainings on different aspects of the Lodge and learned many new things.  We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner in the cafeteria with an occasional meal out.  Our lodge contingent did an Escape room twice and made it out in under 30 minutes!!  Sean and I attend the Very Important Arrowman luncheon for the Eastern Region.  This was a really great experience because we met other Lodge Chiefs from around the country and shared ideas.  Others from the contingent had lunch with different groups from the University of Tennessee while a few of the scouts had dinner with NESA.

But probably the best time I had was at the Ignite Festival that took place on Friday.  Our Lodge put together a wheel that had numbers that corresponded to different levels of Order of the Arrow Knowledge.  We purchased rubber ducks and someone donated items.  So, we had some really great prizes for those who knew their Order of the Arrow history.  Some of the questions were pretty hard but many were easy and it was fun to meet other arrowmen and swap stories about Inductions, Conclaves and just life in general.

All in all, I really look forward to NOAC 2024, wherever it may be.  Even though we do not know at this time where it will take place, we as a lodge, can start planning for it.

Here are a few quotes and remarks from those who attended.

“NOAC was enjoyed by the over 6,500 Arrowmen that attended in Big Orange County – University of Tennessee.  We learned a lot in the trainings, made some new friends, and enjoyed the campus.

Enjoyed Adventure Central with all the many things to do- welding, climbing, obstacle courses, music, airsoft shooting, archery, volleyball, etc.  We enjoyed the Ignite Festival on Friday, where the different Lodges set up tables and offered many challenges to those arrowmen that walked around and tried their luck.  The evening shows were fun to see, we sat in a different seat each night.

Until next time NOAC….”     Mrs. Weiss

“NOAC 2022 was my second event and I loved it as much as the first.  Since I attended it before I knew what to expect.  I enjoyed the different trainings, the comradery not only of our contingent but the other lodges that were there and most of all the evening programs.  This is an event not to be missed.  It is economical and usually close to home.  I highly recommend to any of Lodge #71 members to experience this at least once in your lifetime.”  Mrs. Kiss

Na Tsi Hi Lodge Portal Invitations

Some of you may have already noticed a new email in your inbox asking you to claim your invitation to connect with the Lodge. This is a legit email from our database software as we try to modernize some of our processes.

The Order of the Arrow has recently introduced a Member Portal, though which you can do the following:

  • Update your contact information (email/phone/mailing address)
  • View the lodge calendar
  • Find links to register for events
  • Check if your dues are paid
  • Contact lodge leadership with questions
  • and….. print your OA Membership Card as we go digital next year!

In addition, recently elected members whose units opted to inform them of their election prior to their ordeal can access information to help you prepare for your Ordeal, and recently inducted members will have access to information to help you on your journey to Brotherhood.

You must be 13 years of age or older to get a Member Portal account. Currently there is no access for parents to accounts of members who are under 13, either. A future update should add the ability for parents of members under 13 to access on their behalf.

Currently, new portal accounts are automatically issued to newly-elected candidates after their election results have been announced, or to newly-inducted members after they pass their ordeal, whichever happens first, provided that their election was reported via the new LodgeMaster Inductions module and they are age 13 or older.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the Lodge Adviser.
